CREATE A LEGACY

LEGACY GIFTS

A legacy gift to Thrive Alive Foundation is a deeply personal and meaningful gift that you have carefully thought of and planned for the continued benefit of our very important work. Your legacy ensures that Thrive Alive Foundation continues to grow and help Canadians living with cancer have access to treatments and services that they would otherwise be unable to afford. Your legacy is a testament to your truest values and beliefs that everyone has a right to thrive. Should you choose to name Thrive Alive Foundation as a beneficiary in legal documents, it is important to use our full legal name and charitable registration number: Thrive Alive Foundation Charitable Registration # 82551 9267 RR0001 Below is a list of legacy gifts that Thrive Alive Foundation welcomes and accepts as part of our Legacy Giving Program.

CHARITABLE BEQUESTS

A charitable bequest is the most common gift planning option and may be made by naming “Thrive Alive Foundation” in a will or codicil to a will. You can leave a specific amount, a specific percentage, or choose to leave the remainder of your estate after other debts and bequests have been paid.

GIFTS OF CASH OR APPRECIATED PROPERTY

Your outright gift of cash or appreciated property will give you the immediate satisfaction of seeing your gift at work today. Simple, easy & much needed!

GIFTS OF PUBLICLY TRADED SECURITIES

One of the most tax-efficient ways to give to Thrive Alive Foundation, gifts of publicly-traded securities are eligible for regular tax credit and are fully exempt from capital gains tax. According to Canada Revenue Agency guidelines, the fair market value of publicly-traded securities is based on the closing market price on the day of receipt by Thrive Alive Foundation. The charitable tax receipt is based on this value.

GIFTS OF LIFE INSURANCE

A gift of life insurance may be made to support Thrive Alive Foundation in the following ways: 1) You establish a life insurance policy on your life and then transfer the ownership of the policy to Thrive Alive Foundation and also designate Thrive Alive Foundation as the registered beneficiary. You may pay the premiums as they become due, or you may pay off the policy through a one-time payment, or 2) You may sign over an existing policy to Thrive Alive Foundation and designate Thrive Alive Foundation as the beneficiary. If you surrender a policy to Thrive Alive Foundation, you will receive a charitable tax receipt for the cash surrender value. If you make Thrive Alive Foundation owner of a policy, you will receive a charitable tax receipt for the premiums that you pay.

GIFTS OF RRSPs and RRIFs

Another simple and tax-effective way to support Thrive Alive Foundation is by making a gift of your RRSPs or RRIFs. Visit the institution holding your investments (RRSPs and RRIFs), ask them for a change of beneficiary form, and designate Thrive Alive Foundation as your new beneficiary.
